Protect Your Rights

Do you have serious injuries from a motor vehicle accident or other injury that was not your fault?

With more than 35 years’ experience in injury and disability law, the Disability Law Center of David L. Horne, PLLC can protect your right to receive the compensation you deserve because of personal injury (PI) and from disability benefits programs and plans.

Why Hire an Attorney

Being involved in an auto accident is a frightening experience that can drastically change your life within seconds.  A car accident can cause debilitating physical injuries, emotional trauma, and costly property damage. And a serious car accident injury that prevents you from returning to your job (or that limits the number of hours you can work) can be financially devastating.

If you have been involved in a car accident, it is important to take steps to protect your legal rights before it is too late.

Proving an injury and its long term consequences requires experience in legal and medical issues. We gather medical documentation and work closely with our client’s physicians in developing proof of the injuries.

While most accident cases are settled without going to court, it is important for the insurance company to know that you will file a lawsuit and go to trial if a fair settlement is not offered.

Financial Compensation for Personal Injury

Through settlement or when necessary, a lawsuit, we help our clients receive fair financial compensation for injuries and any permanent disability. In most cases one or more insurance companies must pay for our client’s damages. In the appropriate case, our client can receive compensation for the following:

  • Medical expenses
  • Loss of earnings and loss of earning capacity
  • Mental anguish
  • Pain and suffering
  • Loss of quality of life
  • Property damage

When the injury is permanent, financial compensation should be paid for expected future losses for the remainder the injured person’s life. If there has been gross and reckless negligence, such as drunk driving, additional punitive damages can be paid to the injured person.

Legal Fees

Motor Vehicle Accidents and other Personal Injury (PI)

We understand the financial stress disability from serious injury causes our clients and their families, and consider this in the fees we charge. In claims for personal injury (PI) such as motor vehicle accidents, no legal fee is paid unless compensation is recovered.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

If injuries will keep you out of work for a long period of time, you may be entitled to Social Security Disability Insurance Payments (SSDI). In a claim for SSDI no legal fee is paid unless benefits are awarded.

Virginia Retirement System (VRS) Disability

Long Term Disability (LTD) – Workers’ Compensation

If you are a city or school system worker covered by the VRS, have a long term disability plan or were injured on a job you could have a claim for benefits under a programs listed above. We will evaluate these types of claims and try to structure a fee that considers our client’s circumstances and the likelihood of success. In many instances we are able to structure a fee where a substantial portion of the legal fee is paid only if benefits are awarded.  Please call us for a fee quote.

We Maximize Overlapping Benefits from All Claims

We maximize benefits and compensation from all available sources. If there is a claim for an automobile accident or other personal injury (PI), an on the job work injury and a claim under a disability program or plan, applying the law and regulations is complicated. Disability programs and plans, and claims for personal injury and worker’s compensation frequently overlap.

We can represent you in your claim for personal injury (PI), Social Security Disability (SSDI), and other types of disability and injury claims such as claims for Virginia Retirement System (VRS) Disability, long term disability insurance (LTD), and workers’ compensation.
